Robert W. Freiman has practiced in the field of estates and trusts since his admission to the bar in 1970, representing a broad spectrum of clients from many walks of life with diverse kinds of assets, including closely held businesses and private and commercial real estate holdings. 

 

He has extensive experience in estate planning and the administration of estates and trusts of all sizes and types, and his practice includes the creation of wills, trusts and other estate planning instruments, gift, estate and generation-skipping taxation, business succession, the use of insurance and charitable giving. Mr. Freiman represents clients in proceedings in the Surrogate’s Court and before the Internal Revenue Service and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. 

 

He is a member of the New York-Presbyterian Hospital Planned Giving Advisory Council and of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Professional Advisory Council, and is a former President and Trustee of the Board of Education of the East Williston, New York schools. Mr. Freiman is a former member of the Board of Directors of Project Enterprise, a non-profit teaching entrepreneurship for those in under-resourced communities, and he is on the Board of Trauma and Resiliency Resources, which seeks to prevent suicide among returning veterans of the armed services and first responders.

 

Mr. Freiman is a graduate of the University of Rochester, earned his JD at New York University School of Law, and is a member of both the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and of the New York State Bar Association, where he is a member of the Estates and Trusts Section. 

Mr. Freiman has been honored by his peers as a Super Lawyer, in the top 5 percent of his field. He is a former partner at Phillips Nizer, at Mandel Resnik and at our predecessor firm, Bluming Freiman Franco.

Lorrie B. Franco has a broad range of experience in the field of estates and trusts, with a focus on estate and tax planning, drafting of wills and drafting and implementation of trusts, including irrevocable, insurance, intentionally defective, supplemental needs, revocable and qualified personal residence trusts. 

 

Having practiced law since 1986, she administers estates of all sizes, including substantial, complex estates. Ms. Franco is knowledgeable in gift, estate and generation-skipping

transfer taxation, business succession, and the uses of sophisticated tax savings vehicles and charitable giving, and she represents clients in various proceedings in the Surrogate’s Court. 

 

A summa cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook where she earned her BA in 1982 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, she obtained her JD in 1985 from Fordham University Law School. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association, where she is a member of the Estates and Trusts Section. She is a former senior associate at Phillips Nizer LLP. and former partner at Mandel Resnik Kaiser Moskowitz & Greenstein PC and at Bluming Freiman Franco, P.C.
